Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Substance Use Disorder Professional
Earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Human Services, with an emphasis in substance use disorder. Graduates will learn specific job skills as well as communication skills, computational skills, applied sciences, human relations and social science. The AAS can be completed in two years with full-time attendance.
Program Overview
With coursework in addiction, client evaluation, referral and treatment, cultural implications, counseling, family involvement, and legal issues, you will be prepared for any field that requires knowledge of substance abuse.
With this program, you will earn an AAS degree in Substance Use Disorder Professional and complete the educational requirements needed to become licensed as a Substance Use Disorder professional in Washington state. If you already have a degree, you can meet requirements for your current job by taking individual Substance Use Disorder courses.
Upon enrolling in an academic program and beginning your preparation to become a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) complete and submit an application to become a Substance Use Disorder Trainee (SUDP-T). Educational Requirements for Substance Use Disorder Licensing
Applicants for this license must have completed a minimum of 90 credits, including 45 credits of Substance Use Disorder coursework. Individuals who have earned a college degree, or have a sufficient number of credits, may complete the 45 credits of Substance Use Disorder coursework required to pursue a license as a substance use disorder professional. The additional requirements for becoming a licensed substance use disorder professional can be found through the Washington State Department of Health.
